The thing that tried to take my voice, is the very thing that gave me my voice. The thing that made me feel like I had no purpose, is the very thing that led me to this purpose. That thing is LIFE. Life has Empowered me, to Empower others. This is MY LIFE EMPOWERMENT Story… I grew up in a dysfunctional and abusive home. I was sexually abused, became a teenage mother at the age of sixteen, was put out by my mother, dropped out of High School in the tenth grade, and was homeless between the ages of 16 to 20 years old with my daughter. I felt alone, depressed, abandoned, rejected, ashamed and scared. The church wasn’t there and had abandoned me. Society had already deemed me as a statistic and had given up on me. I was told by family and friends that my life was over. I was expected to fail. I needed help and support, but the system made it very difficult and discouraging for me. I couldn’t receive public assistance because I was either too young, didn’t have a permanent address, or had no parent or guardian that would stand with me. The shelters were either unsafe or full. I slept where I could sometimes on beds, floors, or couches, while most of the time wondering where my daughter and I would wound up the next day. This went on for four years, until my situation forced me to move back home. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this was the start of my New Beginning’s! This journey left a lifetime impact on me. I never thought my experience would have influenced me in starting New Beginning’s Outreach Program for Women and New Beginnings Life Empowerment, LLC and using them as a platform to tell my story to the world! New Beginnings Outreach Program for Women, Inc. is a 501c (3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2013 in Brooklyn, New York.
